"Scratch the Christian and you find the pagan - spoiled."
Israel Zangwill

BLASPHEMY:
Every Christmas I'm reminded that, conveniently, the Christian holidays fall on what used to be pagan holidays. Christ was not born on Christmas day, but in order to help suck pagans into Christianity, Christmas was arranged at the same time. A new religion is overtaking the Christian Christmas - the Retail Holiday Season. No longer content with a mere eve and day, the retailers have turned Christmas into a 3 month shopping extravaganza. I wonder how many generations it will take before we've forgotten the already-endangered Christian Christmas and replaced it with Consumermass. The Christians will be huddled in their caves trying to keep their old beliefs intact while the missionaries of retailers will be hunting them out and convincing them to take up the new belief. Christians of today will be as the pagans of yesteryear, forgotten at best, reviled at worst. Makes me want to go out in the woods and sacrifice a goat for the winter solstice...
"I think that Capitalism, wisely managed, can probably be made more efficient for attaining economic ends than any alternative system yet in sight, but that in itself it is in many ways extremely objectionable."
J.M. Keynes

The Degenerate Press wishes you a profitable Consumass!
