"Son: And must they all be hanged that swear and lie?
Lady Macduff: Every one.
Son: Who must hang them?
Lady Macduff: Why, the honest men.
Son: Then the liars and swearers are fools, for there are liars and swearers enow to beat the honest men and hang them up."
Shakespeare, from Macbeth

BLASPHEMY:
I accidentally watched the news today. I've been in one of the anti-news modes that come and go in my life but I was flipping and stumbled across interviews with the Oklahoma bombing victims' families saying that they want the trial kept in Oklahoma so that it won't put excess financial strain on them to attend the trial and they want to see them punished. Putting aside the obvious assuption of guilty before proven, when did the financial status of victims' families become a priority on where a trial is to be held? I'm not sure the accused can get a fair trial anywhere in the U.S. with the advent of mass media having publisized the entire mess everywhere, but there's sure as hell no way they can get a fair trial in a state where it's likely everyone knows somebody that was killed, injured, a familymember thereof, or at least knows somebody who knows somebody who... Even in a case like this, the rights of the accused cannot be forfeit to popular opinion.
