EAR PLUGS
While all the flunkies down at 99X bow and scrape to Shawn Mullins since he
hit MTV and got nominated for a Grammy, we were flashing back to the 80’s
remembering his gigs at a small beer hole called Beauregards when he was doing
Violet Femmes covers on a keyboard. Don’t get me wrong, he deserves the
fame and fortune for which he has worked hard. But everyone seems to be overlooking
another local act that was recently signed to a big label and nominated for
a Grammy - Nashville Pussy! Their song “Fried Chicken and Coffee”
is nominated for Metal Performance. I don’t think they’ll beat out
the bigtime mainstream competition, but just because I’d like to see the
acceptance speach I really hope they win. I’d much rather see a 7’
tall topless fire-breathing woman take the stage than an old college buddy (sorry,
Shawn.)
